Transportation System

Here we will discuss how traveling works and also the different types of ships/forms of transportation.

First we'll start off with traveling. Traveling is done to get to one area from another, these areas being forums like the East Blue, North Blue, Grandline, Paradise, New World, etc. When it comes to traversing between islands and places in those forums, travel threads aren't needed, but you are more than free to RP traveling from one island to the next. You may choose between fulfilling the word count or the time requirement when it comes to traveling. Some areas of course have higher requirements than others depending on the harshness of their waters.

When traveling to the Grandline it is important that you use the Reverse Mountain/Red Line forum as the home for your travel thread. Any other time, the travel thread is to originate in the waters you are traveling from and not to.

Below are the Word Count or Time Requirements you must meet to successfully travel to each area.

  • Four Blues 500 Words or 30 Minutes of Real Time.
  • Grandline 750 Words or 1 Hours of Real Time.
  • Calm Belt 750 Words or 1 Hour of Real Time. If you do not have a Kairoseki Hull you will encounter a Sea King controlled by Staff.
  • Paradise 1,500 Words or 1 Hours of Real Time.
  • New World 2,000 Words or 2 Hours Real Time.

It should be noted Travel Threads have to be made regardless of the route you choose to fulfill travel requirements. Now we'll explain how to go about making your travel thread.

  • First start by creating a topic in the waters you are currently in, the title should mention the start point, then the end point, and be tagged [Travel].
  • The first post should be announcing how you (and company) will be fulfilling the travel requirement, either Word Count.
  • Each person traveling is then required to post to represent they are traveling in this thread. Even if you are using real time to fulfill the travel requirement you must make a post to establish your presence on the vessel.
  • If you guys will be doing Word Count to fulfill the travel requirement, go right ahead and do your topic as if it were a normal topic, but with [Travel] as the tag.
  • Once finished be sure to mention your [Exit] and that's about it.

Be sure to remember these threads are always [Open] for intervention whether tagged so or not. However, the number of PC and NPC (non grunt) interceptors cannot outnumber the quantity of the original participants.

Should you use the timer to travel, you are interceptable until you post in your next non-travel topic.

All threads must be complete before attempting to leave an area to another.

Transportation System Pt.2

This section for the transportation system will discuss actual vessels used to travel. Upon approval each character is given one Tier 0 Row Boat. This row boat can get you between islands, but not Blues, so choose which Blue you start in wisely.

Code:

[b]Name:[/b] Row Boat
[b]Tier:[/b] 0
[b]Capacity Limit:[/b] 5
[b]Type:[/b] On Water
[b]Nav. or Shipwright Req.[/b] No
[b]Artillery:[/b] No
[b]Upgradable:[/b] No
[b]Description:[/b] A simple wooden row boat with two oars that can fit 5 people uncomfortably.

This Row Boat is a freebie for when you start and even if it breaks you are given another. So basically you'll always have a Row Boat.

Now lets look at a fleshed out template and discuss what each section of that template is about.

Code:

[b]Name:[/b]
[b]Tier:[/b]
[b]Capacity Limit:[/b]
[b]Type:[/b]
[b]Description:[/b]
[b]Speed:[/b] (In knots)
[b]Hull:[/b]
[b]Artillery Limit:[/b] (50% of the Capacity Limit)
[b]Artillery Slots Owned:[/b] (How many slots for artillery have you actually purchased or had crafted into your ship?)
[b]Artillery:[/b] (What Artillery have you officially outfitted the ship with.)
[b]Upgradable:[/b]
[b]Den Den Mushi[/b](Any Den Den Mushi in the ship?)
[b]Domesticated[/b](Light Dials and Den Den Mushi routed to Dials for speakers throughout the ship. Heat dials for temperature regulation.)
[b]Link to Purchase or Creation:[/b] (Can be registered, then built and purchased)

  • Name: Self Explanatory

  • Tier: 1-6, determines what waters the ship can sail on and its overall performance level. Starting at Tier 3 a Navigator or Shipwright is needed to steer Ships.

  • Capacity Limit: How many people can fit on the vessel max

  • Type:
    On Water

These are your typical ships that sail on the water like the Going Merry or Thousand Sunny. All other ships types, Underwater and Airships, have the ability to sail On Water, but their speed while doing so faces a reduction. They can be anywhere from Tier 1-6.

    Underwater

These ships are vessels that can go underwater. This can be done through various means, but most common is a body that can resist the pressures of the ocean or maybe erection of a space around a ship similar to bubble coating. Start at Tier 3 and go up to Tier 6.

    Airship

An Airship on this site cannot be related to anything in canon. It doesn't need a Devil Fruit like Shiki using the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi to make it float. It has it's own means to be able to fly and stay suspended in the air. Starts at Tier 5 to Tier 6.

    Personal

Ships that are meant to seat a very small amount of people, three max. These ships usually make an emphasis on Speed. An example of this is something like Ace's ship in canon. Personal ships are ON Water by default, so they are technically hybrids, but do not count as such unless they can also travel underwater or in the air. Start at Tier 4 and go onward to Tier 6.

    Hybrid

This ship is a mix of the Types mentioned above. Only two types of ships can be meshed into one may it be purchased or crafted, you may find one with three types in the Black Market or as an event reward.

  • Artillery Limit: The Artillery limit is 50% of the Capacity Limit.

  • Upgradable: This allows the ship to be upgraded to the next Tier rather than stay at it's current Tier forever. Buying more artillery slots or artillery doesn't fall into the category of Upgrades as far as Upgradable goes.

  • Description: A detailed description of the ship, how it works, where the artillery is, the sizing, crows nest, hull, rooms, etc, etc. Be incredibly detailed.

  • Speed: How fast can the ship go in knots. One knot is approximately .5 meters per second.

  • Artillery: List of ship's artillery and a link that shows it has been purchased or crafted for the ship.

  • Hull: What material is the Hull made out of.

  • Den Den Mushi: http://op-piratenation.forumotion.com/t1283-den-den-mushi List of Den Den Mushi you have purchased for the ship. Each Den Den Mushi cost a single Artillery Slot.

  • Domesticated: A vessel being Domesticated refers to the ship having light dials as opposed to torches, it would have Den Den Mushi routed to sound dials for speakers, Heat Dials to regulate the vessels temperature and things like that. This all comes in one price, but with this being an extra feature it is pricy.

Transportation System Pt.3/Travel Restrictions

In this section of the Transportation System we'll discuss restrictions. Restrictions in reference to what areas boats can endure and where you are able to travel. These also apply to Races who have travel bonuses like Fishmen and Winged.

  • Tier 1: East, West, South, and North Blue.
  • Tier 2: East, West, South, and North Blue. Reverse Mountain/Red Line.
  • Tier 3: East, West, South, and North Blue. Reverse Mountain/Red Line, Grandline, Paradise, and Calm Belt.
  • Tier 4: East, West, South, and North Blue. Reverse Mountain/Red Line, Grandline, and Calm Belt. Paradise and the New World.
  • Tier 5: East, West, South, and North Blue. Reverse Mountain/Red Line, Grandline, and Calm Belt. Paradise and the New World.
  • Tier 6: East, West, South, and North Blue. Reverse Mountain/Red Line, Grandline, and Calm Belt. Paradise and the New World.

Certain areas require a certain amount of Total EP to be attained before you are able to enter. The Total EP of everyone present during the travel is looked at and pooled together if there are multiple travelers, meaning you can progress faster if you have more people with you.

  • North, South, West, and East Blue: - 0 Total EP
  • Calm Belt: - 100,000 Total EP
  • Grandline|Paradise: - 150,000 Total EP
  • Grandline|New World: - 650,000 Total EP

Public Transport

Ferries
A ferry is a form of public transport in the form of a ship that allow members to travel Blue to Blue at the cost of 100,000 Beli. Ferry Travel follows travel rules with timers and word counts, but Ferries may only be used to traverse in a single Ocean and may not transport you to another Ocean, i.e.: No South Blue to Grandline Travel, but South Blue to North Blue is fine. Ferries are owned by the public, so they are neutral when it comes to factions and are not guarded or protected by Marines or anything of that nature. If Ferry Travel is invaded, there are a default 15 T1 NPCs, 5 T2 NPCs, and a T3 NPC on board to defend the Ferry and Ferry riders. A Ferry ship has a single cannon on each side of the ship and a single mortar on board as well due to pirating, so they can defend themselves and their patrons. As of now Ferries only exist in the Four Blues and not the Grandline or Calm Belt due to extreme water natures, with Sea Kings and unpredictable weather that includes storms. To purchase a Ferry travel, you would post like you were traveling normally and at the end of your travel ask a Moderator to deduct your Beli. Should you not have your Beli Deducted due to irresponsibility on your behalf, you are subject to have activity in the new area you are in voided.

Seatrain
The Seatrain is a form of public transportation that operates in the Grandline. A ticket cost 500,000 Beli and it has specific available stops listed. http://op-piratenation.forumotion.com/t60-sea-train-station#80 The Seatrain itself is T5 and is guarded by 15 T1 NPCs, 10 T2 NPCs, 5 T3 NPCs, and 1 T4 NPC that belong to no faction. The Seatrain has a standard travel timer.

Marine Escort Services
The Marine Escort Services are available to those with World Positions that include it as a Perk. They can transport a Marine from any island, to Enies Lobby, Marineford, Impel Down, or any Island in the Four Blues. It is a service ran by the Marines and is heavily guarded. The ship itself is Tier 5 On Water and is guarded by 1 Tier 5 NPC, 3 Tier 4 NPCs, 5 Tier 3 NPCs, then 30 Grunts.

Revolutionary Escort Services
The Revolutionary Escort Services are available to those with World Positions that include it as a Perk. They can transport a Revolutionary from any island, to Revolutionary Headquarters, Alabasta,Vulcan, Hebi, or any Island in the Four Blues. It is a service ran by the Revolutionaries and is heavily guarded. The ship itself is Tier 5 Under Water Ship and is guarded by 1 Tier 5 NPC, 3 Tier 4 NPCs, 5 Tier 3 NPCs, then 30 Grunts.
