Skill System
Skills are unlike basic attacks and are named strikes that your character performs for more outstanding results. Skills are a fairly free breathing concept on this site and it gives a lot of room for member creativity. Something members must conform to however is a Skillset. Basically all Skills made fall inside of a Skillset made by the RPer themselves.

Skillsets

What a Skillset is is basically an outline of what's to be expected from the Skills made by a person. For those who use Devil Fruits your Skillset Descriptions is you registering the capabilities of your Devil Fruit.

Each person has access to three Skillsets. A Primary, Secondary, then Tertiary. The Primary and Secondary Skillset come free, but a Tertiary Skillset must be unlocked. To do so you must simply embark on an Arc that is about learning, training, using, etc this new fighting style you wish to attain. The Tier of the Arc completed represents the Tier of Skills you are now eligible to use from that Skillset. Even if I'm Tier 6, a Tier 4 Arc for a Tertiary Skillset will only let me use Skills up to Tier 4 for that Tertiary Skillset.

Below are two examples of Skillsets.

Priority: Primary
Fighting Style: Devil Fruit Martial Art
Skill Set Name: Gomu Gomu no Mi
Skill Set Information: The Gomu Gomu no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that gives the user's body the properties of rubber, making the user a Rubber Human. Being like rubber, the user is able to stretch their body to extreme lengths, can constrict their body parts, and much more. (Copy from the wiki for Devil Fruits)
Passives:
  • Lvl 1 - The user can stretch up to a total of 5m without usage of a Skill, this increases as the user gains more Experience.
    Passive Stretching:
  • Lvl 2 - User can rebound from blunt force to have their next Skill cost 20% less Stamina while increasing the range by 5m.
  • -

Skillset Strengths:

  • User is immune to blunt damage including injuries from falling as long as it not Haki infused.
  • User is immune to electricity.

Skillset Weaknesses:
-
Notes:
Attribute Priorities:

  • Strength
  • Speed
  • Durability & Perception

Material Destruction:

Priority: Secondary
Fighting Style: Sword Based
Skill Set Name: Santoryu - Power of Destruction
Skill Set Information: Santoryu is a sword-style in which the practitioner utilizes three katanas to fight. There are many ways to achieve wielding three katanas at once, but the most conventional seems to be one in each hand and one grasped in the user's mouth. Coupled with Santoryu is the usage of Power of Destruction. Though it originates from Swordsmen the Power of Destruction has become a widespread weapon style that involves the usage of a unique array of techniques through any weapon.

  • Cutting things that are usually harder than the sword itself, such as certain types of stone or even steel. The substance usually splits apart a few moments after being cut.
  • Transferring the force of a cut over a distance by swinging the sword at high speed, creating a "vacuum blade" of compressed air; or by simply creating strong winds with sword blows. This is known as a Flying Slash Attack (飛ぶ斬撃 Tobu Zangeki?). The color of these attacks varies between users such as blue, green, purple etc.
  • Cutting objects that are thicker than the length of the sword, such as buildings or ships.
  • Channeling elemental power into sword slashes, such as fire or electricity.
  • Imbuing the swords with Busoshoku Haki to increase slicing power, as well as protect the blade from chipping.

Passives:

  • Lvl 2 - The user pays Haki Stamina every other turn as opposed to every turn when coating only weapons with Busoshoku Haki.
  • Lvl 2 - User can passively imbue their weapon with a coating of lightning that paralyzes and numbs limbs that are struck for 1 Post.
  • Lvl 3 - User has 1 additional Tier of Strength.

Skillset Strengths:

Skillset Weaknesses:

Notes:
Attribute Priorities:

  • Strength
  • Durability
  • Speed & Perception

Material Destruction:

Power of Destruction Aspects:

Passives
  • A person is limited to three passives.
  • Each passive has to be purchased with EP just as Skills are bought with EP.
  • The capability of a passive is based on the level of Passive the Applicant purchases.
  • There are three levels of passives.
  • Attributes can be boosted with a passive, but same attribute boosting passives across skillsets do not stack, meaning it's useless to get +Speed in each Skillset.
  • A passive can scale, but a passive can only have three stages and only one passive in a skillset may scale. New stages of the passive are unlocked by getting higher values or Total Experience.
  • All Attribute increases are Level 3 Passives.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths and Weaknesses are innate things that come with your fruit or fighting style. In these two sections we see things that are more natural and simply just are. We should see elemental weakness and superiority included here or things like how the Gomu Gomu can resist certain types of attacks. "Has a far range" or "Unpredictable" doesn't belong here as those are mostly flavor of text strengths and weaknesses that have no real IC effect on things. This isn't a section to get free bonuses, i.e. "fast style so gets bonus Speed by 1 Tier".

Notes
Notes are for explaining extra things that aren't really Strengths or Weaknesses, but maybe you have an extra point system unique to your skillset you want to implement or like in the Power of Destruction Skillset you need to list out at what Tier of Skills can you use certain aspects of a fighting style.

Attribute Priorities
This is should be exactly the same throughout your Skillsets and the listing that you put in your **Character Updates**. It's here so we know what to see coming out of your Skills. You won't have super fast Skills if Speed is one of you Non-Prioritized Attributes and vice versa with Strength. This isn't to say you can't have a Skill that boosts your Speed even if it's Non-Prioritized, just that all the base Speeds of your Skills shouldn't be fast.

When it comes to Strength and Devil Fruits that aren't Strength related, the Strength Prioritization is still taken into account. So how strong your lightning bolt will be is still dependent on that Strength Attribute even though obviously your Physical Strength doesn't relate to this.

Zoans
When registering your Skillset, all the innate abilities of the animal your fruit allows you to transform into are given to you, but they are not amplified to One Piece standards and are realistic. These should be included in the Notes section. If you wish you can take one of those innate bonuses and make them one of your passives, in most cases allowing you to amplify its effectiveness. Additionally for each form you have, Points included, you have a single passive unique to that form, default non-transformed form not included.

Skills

Now we move onto Skills, the real reason we are here. As explained Skills are special attacks that do more damage than basic attacks. Some are free, but more costcost EP to obtain. Also unlike basic attacks, Skills cost stamina to execute. That is further explained in the Stamina System. Below is our example Skill.

Skill Name: Gomu Gomu Pistol
Tier: 1
Type: Normal
Range: 7m
Speed: Own
Description: The user jabs at their target and allows their arm to stretch up to 7m forward to strike their target. Strike can cause light fractures.

Skill Name:
Self Explanatory

Range:
Range should be how far the Skill goes away from your character.

Tier:
Tier's of Skill go on to represent the level of mastery over the fighting style this Skill portrays and their overall effectiveness. A Tier 1 Skill should be rather basic and be considered seen as techniques for novices. Not saying you'll mess up when attempting them, but they shouldn't use full mastery of the fighting style and be rather modest. While the Skills Tier up to 6, at Tier 5 is where complete mastery of a Skillset is attained giving you two Tiers of Skills to play with this full efficiency.

You can only execute Skills that are one tier higher than your own Tier.

Type:
Of the Skill Types there are three.

  • Normal Skills are your typical Skills that are normal just offensive in nature.

  • Speed Skills are Skills that boost Speed or are used to make the user suddenly attain maximum Speed. During usage of a Speed Skill the user is limited to linear movement and also experiences a tunnel vision like effect if their Speed exceeds their own Perception Attribute. See more on this in the **Attribute System**. Be sure to mention in the description if the Skill is actually boosting your Speed, letting you reach maximum Speed instantly, or both. If it's a boost state by how many Speed Tiers. An example is Soru which is found **here**. Be sure to follow the scale at which Soru boost Speed if you are making a Speed Skill. Skills that scale faster or harder than Soru are very rarely accepted.

  • Defense Skills are Skills that are normally used in a Defensive nature. This doesn't limit them to not being able to cause harm, but that is not their primary function. Something like erecting a wall or Tekkai is a Defensive Skill. Defensive Skills are special because they can block Skills that are a Tier higher than their own Tier, counter two Skills that are equally Tiered, three Skills that are two Tiers lower, then an infinite amount of Skills that are any Tier lower than that. Busoshoku Haki operates like a Defensive Skill.

Speed:
What Tier of Speed does the Skill move at. If the Skill utilizes your body directly, slashing with a sword, kicking, fishman karate, but not something like blowing a fireball, the Skill can move up to your character's own Speed. Should the Skill be something like a wave of lava from the Magu Magu no Mi, it'd have a number value in the Speed section that aligns with our Speed chart.

Description:

Explain what's happening in your Skill. Don't use radius, use diameter for any attacks with circular components. Dimensions of the Skill should be given. Any stat buffs the Skill might give someone. As well as the damage it can cause if someone is hit.

Amount of Skills

This shows about how many Skill slots you have for your Primary Skillset. Combat NPCs only have access to a Primary Skillset and do not get a secondary, tertiary, nor can they be bought additional skills.
  • 3 Tier 1 Skills free. 12 more may be purchased.
  • 3 Tier 2 Skills free. 6 more may be purchased.
  • 2 Tier 3 Skills free. 5 more may be purchased.
  • 2 Tier 4 Skills free. 5 more may be purchased.
  • 2 Tier 5 Skills free. 3 more may be purchased.
  • 1 Tier 6 Skills free. 2 more may be purchased.

While these are the limits or your Secondary and Tertiary Skillsets.

  • 3 Tier 1 Skills free. 7 more may be purchased.
  • 3 Tier 2 Skills free. 7 more may be purchased.
  • 2 Tier 3 Skills free. 6 more may be purchased.
  • 1 Tier 4 Skills free. 4 more may be purchased.
  • 0 Tier 5 Skills free. 3 may be purchased.
  • 0 Tier 6 Skills free. 1 may be purchased.

Skills can be bought with EP at the **EP Shop**..

Skill Usage

Using a Skill is fairly simple. You don't have to shout the name of the technique or anything of that, just supply a detailed enough explanation of what it is you're doing like you normally would when RPing. Then at the end of your post in a spoiler at least supply the name of the Skill you used and deduct the appropriate amount of Stamina. This goes for use of Haki and weapon abilities as well.

Skill Redo

For those of you that find your skillsets simply didn't work out the way you wanted them to, this one is for you. Perhaps you made this skillset early on and now it's just not what you wanted it to be, or maybe you just want to mix it up a bit. Whatever your reason is, you can pay 5,000,000 Beli to redo your skillset. This means that you can remake your skillset entirely but still need to get it approved again once you're done. Important things to keep in mind:

  • The number of skills you had/paid for on the old skillset is the number you still have. Any more you have to buy in the EP shop like normal
  • Passives can be changed but the ranks may not. If you bought a T2 passive, you can either keep the old T2 passive or make a new one but the new one must remain T2.
  • Changed skillsets must be the same style as the originals. A marksman skillset cannot suddenly become a hand to hand skillset. However, a PoD skillset can be changed to a Kitsunebi-ryu skillset because they both fall under the weapon specialist style.*
  • Every time you redo a skillset the price increases by 5,000,000 Beli. First redo = 5,000,000, second redo = 10,000,000, etc. This is NOT per skillset. If you redo your primary it's 5,000,000 Beli and if you redo your secondary skillset after that, it's 10,000,000 Beli even if it's your first time redoing the secondary skillset.
  • Primary/Secondary/Tertiary skillsets may be swapped, this costs 5,000,000 Beli. This simply means you can make your Primary skillset your Secondary and vice versa. This also adds to the 5,000,000 Beli per redo count.

Notes:
*To switch to a new style, prerequesites for that style must be achieved first. For example, styles requiring 1000 word training topic learning that style must have the 1000 words completed before the user can pay to switch their skillset to the new one.
